Built for bigger teams
You pay monthly for platforms designed for organizations many times your size.
The villain your subscriptions never saw coming.
Own the tools your business actually needs. App Villain is building simple, ownable software for consultants, agencies, and coaches in the U.S. It starts with a CRM, planned as a one-time license you can self-host and keep.
Ruthless to subscriptions. Loyal to your data.
These are design commitments for the pilot. The license is under attorney review. App Villain CRM is not yet available for purchase. We're accepting applications from a small number of businesses.
The problem
You pay monthly for platforms designed for organizations many times your size.
Contacts, a pipeline, reminders, a booking link, a form. That's often the whole job.
Prices, seat minimums, and AI add-on charges change on someone else's schedule.
Your client records live in someone else's system, under someone else's rules.
Most small service businesses don't need more software. They need the right software, and the option to own it.
How it works
This is the path we're building. Nothing on this list is for sale yet.
List your apps and what you use them for. The free assessment on this page shows what could be replaced. It is an estimate, not a quote.
App Villain CRM is in pilot. It is being built to cover contacts, deal stages, notes, reminders, lead capture, and CSV import.
A one-time license is planned, so you could host it yourself. Optional managed hosting is planned if you'd rather not run a server.
A planned assistant would flag neglected leads and draft follow-ups. It would always ask for your approval before sending anything.

The hybrid model
This is the model we're designing. Prices and hosting are planned, not on sale.
| Own it (self-host) | We host it (planned) | |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay | One-time license (planned $149) | License plus monthly hosting (planned, about $19 to $49 per month) |
| Where it runs | Your server or cloud account (planned) | Managed hosting (planned). Hosting terms are not final. |
| Updates | 12 months included (proposed). Under the proposed terms, the software keeps working after that. | Applied for you (planned) |
| Your data | Stays on your infrastructure (planned for self-host) | Full export is planned. Backup promises wait for final hosting terms. |
| Cancel anytime? | Nothing to cancel on a one-time license (proposed terms) | Planned: yes, online, under the proposed hosting terms. Moving to self-hosting is part of that proposal. |
Plain-English promise (proposed terms, draft): your license would let you run the release you bought for as long as you like. If you stop paying for hosting or updates, your software keeps working and your data stays yours. These are proposed terms.
Final license terms are under attorney review.

List your current apps, what each costs per month, and which ones you'd replace. Everything is calculated in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Self-hosting still has costs of its own (server, domain, your time), which aren't included here.

FAQ
Not yet. App Villain CRM is in a limited pilot. Apply and we'll be in touch if it's a fit.
Under the proposed terms, you would buy a license for a specific release and could run it on your own infrastructure for as long as you like. You would not own our intellectual property, and you would not need a subscription to keep using the release you bought. Final terms are under legal review.
Under the proposed terms, your software keeps working. You'd just stop receiving new releases unless you choose to renew.
No. If you'd rather not manage hosting, optional managed hosting and assisted setup are planned.
CSV import is planned from day one, and full export is planned.
That's the plan. It would draft and recommend, and it would send only if you approve each message. You would decide.
App Villain CRM is being built for the basic jobs most small teams use a CRM for: contacts, a pipeline, notes, reminders, and lead capture. If you need a large, advanced system, it may not be the right fit yet, and we'll tell you so.
Pilot terms are shared with accepted applicants. Applying is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
